Be a Mentor

Your guidance can make a real difference in an artist’s journey — without a huge time commitment.

Why Mentors Matter

NAF exists to connect artists not just with tools and exposure, but with people who’ve been there. Mentors help others refine their craft, navigate artistic careers, and connect with opportunities.

Artists don’t need critics — they need:

  • perspective

  • encouragement

  • practical guidance
from people who have walked the path.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome volunteers with experience in:

  • Fine art disciplines

  • Performing arts

  • Visual arts

  • Curating and exhibition planning

  • Art education

  • Creative business practices

  • Arts organizations / institutions

You don’t need to be famous — just experienced, generous, and willing to share.

What Mentors Do

Mentors can choose how they want to get involved:

☑ Portfolio reviews
Provide feedback on artist portfolios.

☑ Q&A sessions
20–60 min calls or written Q&A.

☑ Skill workshops
Small group sessions on tools, techniques, or business skills.

☑ Project guidance
Help artists think through a plan or challenge.

You choose what you offer and when.

Time Commitment

Your involvement is voluntary and flexible.
Examples (choose one or more):

  • One portfolio review (30–60 min)

  • Monthly Q&A session (30 min)

  • Quarterly workshop (1–2 hrs)

  • Responding to questions online (as your schedule allows)

No hard quotas — just your willingness to help.

What You Get Back

As a mentor with NAF you receive:

  • Recognition on the platform

  • Opportunities to promote your own work

  • Access to a community of creative professionals

  • The satisfaction of helping others grow

Mentorship can be rewarding — and fun.
